Black Spring

This week has been absolutely bananas. It feels like the longest week of my life. Due to the fact that Spring Break just ended in which I turned 20 years old. I really should be more excited than I am. It’s hard to give up my teens. I’ve always associated your twenties with major life altering decisions. Ones I’m not sure I’m ready for. As it stands now, nothing has really changed and as nervous as I am, I’m grateful that God has allowed me to see another year and also really excited for the future. Now that Spring Break is over it’s time to grind. Upon my arrival back at school I was kindly greeted with an abundance of tests and quizzes. Oh Joy! Right now I could not be more jealous of my brother who is currently spending his Spring Break in Japan. How lucky is he?

I know…I know…I’m a couple days late to the whole first day of spring thing, but here’s my first look of spring! Some may say I look like I’m going to a funeral but it’s more about the silhouette than the color. This dress is very light weight. The ruffles and ribbon shoulder ties are on trend for the season. I love that it’s not figure hugging, but you also don’t look like a sack of potatoes wearing it. The top and bottom of the dress billow out creating an hourglass shape. Although this is a very light material and it is not lined, transparency is not a problem. This dress also comes in white. It’s sold out now; definitely regretting I didn’t pick it up as well.

Straw accessories are very much a spring/summer trend and this hat could not be more perfect. I’ve been looking for a floppy hat for years but none of them seemed to be the right color, material, or brim length.  If you’re not into really big floppy hats I don’t recommend this one. The brim measures to about 6.125 inches which is a similar length to the popular Eugenia Kim Sun Hat. Eventually I might decide to do a DIY with black sequin trim, I just have to figure out what I want it to say. I’m open to suggestions.

The last thing I want to touch on are these suede espadrille wedges. They are quite high, but also have a decent size platform which makes them comfortable to walk in. The woven platform matches perfectly with the sun hat and also makes it more of a spring/summer shoe.

That’s it for me today. I’m so excited for this season. Bring on the bright colors!
