The Monochromatic Look

grey-1-editgrey-2-editgrey-4-editgrey-5-editWe’re almost through the week! Just 4 more days left in the semester. I’m so ready for winter break or lack there of, but you get the point. Two exams down and two more to go. I might be tired and completely running on fumes now, but when I’m done I’ll be as happy as the expression on my face in these photos.

Speaking of the photos that’s probably why you’re here. I wanted to try out the monochromatic look; mixing different shades of grey and silver. I think the color scheme is perfect for the winter. When putting together a monochromatic outfit it’s fun to play around with texture to add dimension. It’s also easier to do so now that the weather has cooled down a little. You don’t have to worry about sweating in thicker fabrics.

I paired this metallic tweed skirt with a thin merino wool sweater since it’s really not cold at all in South Florida. Any of these pieces could be substituted, for instance a thicker knit. Instead of these metallic flats add a bootie and tights. The possibilities are endless. To top it off I draped this jacquard-weave blanket scarf around my shoulders which picks up the various grey tones in the outfit and wore simple silver jewelry.
